So, yeah, I split my real blog off from the Cuttlefish site. I don’t want future buyers of my (rad) iPhone apps to come immediately face-to-face with whatever random thing I’m blathering about. So, Cuttlefish Industries now looks like a proper iphone app website, and this ASCII monstrosity is born.
I miss The Draw. As someone who possess almost zero talent for drawing, I support any medium which is inherently equalizing. And text mode is pretty effing equalizing. Although there are still some who insist on making it more awesome than it should be.
I had half a mind to write some crazy framework that would present a web browser’s canvas as the 80×25 text mode from the DOS days. Ultimately though it’s one of those things that just isn’t worth the time. I gave up after spending a couple hours one morning using javascript/CSS to turn your mouse cursor into a square block. The part that killed me was the implied grid; aligning the text to the mouse cursor proved too much work. Maybe someday.
