===[ HEAT | June 9th, 2008 ]===

So… yeah. When people say it gets REALLY hot here during the summer… they aren’t lying. As Carly puts it: “it feels like a new, horrible planet out here.”

Holy crap I can’t believe I just blogged about the weather! I’m THAT GUY!!

Real content coming soon. Promise!

===[ NYC! | May 10th, 2008 ]===

Whee! I’m on the other side of the nation! I used to live in Los Feliz…. now I live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Ain’t that a swift kick to the head. It’s all good though. The burg seems righteously cool in so many secret ways. And it rains here, too! I had to lock up my inner rainophile for 5 years but now it is busting out of its cage and bounding, all snarls, into the city, like that scene in Ghostbusters where the “doggie” comes to life and takes off down the avenue. No umbrella needed.

On my new subway commute the other morning, I watched from the other side as a bunch of people went for some empty seats. A lady across from them said, “hey, I wouldn’t sit there if I were you, a man just PEED there.” Yeah. So there ya go. Make of that what you will.

===[ The International Conspiracy | March 24th, 2008 ]===

I’m working with some friends to make a game for dream/build/play, and we’ve decided to keep a blog about our experiences this year. So, if XNA’s your thing, and you want to watch the spectacle that is our group, The International Conspiracy, head on over to http://internationalconspiracy.wordpress.com to catch the action as it unfolds.

More Mountain Goats chords. This is Weekend in Western Illinois, off Full Force Galesburg. Perhaps one of the greatest songs ever – fun to play, fun to sing.

===[ Ethiopians | February 23rd, 2008 ]===

So I’m getting into this whole “listen to a song and figure out how to play it” thing. Here’s what I hear for one of my favorites, the Mountain Goats song Ethiopians (from the Daytrotter sessions). more »

===[ Project: Eggnog (aborted) | January 6th, 2008 ]===

Yeah, so I got really sick over the holidays, forcing me to curtail my alcohol consumption.  Didn’t even get any champagne.  Blah.  So…. PE will have to wait until next year.

===[ Project: Eggnog (overview) | December 11th, 2007 ]===

Ahh, eggnog. Nothing really captures the spirit of Christmas for me like preparing my traditional holiday eggnog mix – take a coffee cup, fill it 75% full of eggnog, then stir in brandy until full. Happy effing Holidays.

I got to wondering about the authenticity of this drink, and whether I’ve been missing out on an even better way to enjoy it. Some internet searching revealed no less than a dozen different eggnog mixes. Some of them involve apricot brandy, rum, and/or bourbon. One has sherry in it. It would seem that even after 200 years, the perfect eggnog question is far from answered. And these are just the survivors. How many eggnog recipies have been lost on the winds of time?

These dozen final contenders must each be bringing something interesting. So, in a desperate bid for Cuttlefish Content, I’ve decided to create, consume, and blog about each one. more »

===[ C# on Two Beers, Session 1: MonitorSwitcher | November 15th, 2007 ]===

Tonight I decided to combine two things I greatly enjoy: Sam Adams Boston Lager and building tiny applications, in a personal experiment to see if my Ballmer’s Peak was different in C# than in C++. more »

===[ So, yeah. | November 12th, 2007 ]===

I made a new site.

Before now, I had a site called Spin Studios. It was great, but – it got lost in the google search results (too many things are named Spin), and it was high time for me to check out this newfangled Web 2.0 the kids are up to these days. So, I grabbed a copy of WordPress and set to it.

This is the result. Cuttlefish Industries. Behold! Many things are still coming online, in particular I need to corral the giant screenshots somehow, they are breaking IE6. But in general it’s been pretty smooth… I’m glad to be off Active Server Pages and onto PHP/Linux, which is better, faster, and cheaper.
