The Weepies
Orbiting, off the album “Hideaway”
Chords by Mason McCuskey (http://www.masonmc.com)

The easiest way to play the G, C/G, G chords in the verse is to hold your ring finger on the 6th string (and muting the 5th), and your pinky on the 1st string, and then slap down your index and middle finger to form the C/G.

G: 3x0003
C/G: 3x2013
C: x32010
Am: x02210
D: xx0232
Em: 022000

Am G D (x2)

G C/G G C D G C/G G C/G
You named me judge the day that I was born
G C/G G C D G C/G G C/G
You asked too much to fix what you had torn
Am G D
Things got out of hand,
Am G D
now I understand

                    G
And I'm out of your range
                 C
Now it's kind of strange
              Em D
How we change orbit in our lives
                   G C
You were kind of a moon outside of my room
             Em D
I could just feel you nearby
Am G D
Now I feel you gone
         Am G D
'Cause I know which side you're on
             G C/G G C/G
And it's not mine

G C/G G C D G C/G G C/G
I walk the line between now and then
G C/G G C D G C/G G C/G
It's deep-sea diving with no oxygen
        Am G D
Guess I went somewhere to hide
Am G D
Far behind my eyes
  Am G D
I willed you there to see
        Am G D
But you never came for me

                    G
Now I'm out of your range
                 C
Now it's kind of strange
              Em D
How we change orbit in our lives
                   G C
You were kind of a moon outside of my room
             Em D
I could just feel you nearby
Am G D
Now I feel you gone
         Am G D
'Cause I know which side you're on
             G C/G G
And it's not mine
C/G G C/G G
And it's not mine
C/G G C/G G
And it's not mine

More Mountain Goats chords. This is Weekend in Western Illinois, off Full Force Galesburg. Perhaps one of the greatest songs ever – fun to play, fun to sing.

D G
the land's opening up like a blanket,

        D G
and the dandelions spread themselves thickly out

D A D
along the fields, which are, evidently, endless;

                                  G
and we are hotly in love with one another.

             D G
we've got an unquenchable thirst in our throats.

   D A
we are, for some reason, all the time, bleeding,

           D
and we are friendless.

(Lots of Ds)

       D G D G
and we love these dogs that roll on the lawns here in Galesburg --

        D A D
because they seem to know something nobody else knows.

      D G
it is written in the smiles on their faces,

       D G
and it rings in their high young voices

       D A
we are burning up all of our choices up here

          G A D
where the tall grass grows, up here in Galesburg.

the sky's opening up like an old wound,
and the rain on our bodies is warm tonight
and the ground underneath us shakes in the cracking thunder.
we can taste fresh blood in our mouths again,
there is no chance of getting enough of it,
and we tally up all our possessions, we're going under.

but we love these dogs that loll in the rain here in Galesburg
as the new season rocks them in its terrible arms.
yeah they howl as though the world were ending,
and we are watching the sky unwinding
and some of our promises were binding up here where our dreams take form
up here in Galesburg

Intro:

Start with C (the 4 fingered one with your ringfinger on the first string, 3rd fret).
Now pull your index finger off the 5th string. Call that Caug.
Then move the whole thing down a string to get F and Faug.

In tab it looks like this:

       x4 x4
e----0--0--0----x--x--x----
B----1--1--0----1--1--0----
G----0--0--0----2--2--2----
D----2--2--2----3--3--3----
A----3--3--3----3--3--3----
E----3--3--3----x--x--x----

Verse:

C F
Window mounted air conditioning unit

Am G
Humming like a hive

C F
We want to send postcards to the friends we used to have

          Am G F G
Rub their noses in the ugly fact that we are still alive

       F
And we play

        C Am
Lover's reggae

F G (barred at 3rd fret, not the open G)
On accordion and banjo

F G
When the moon is high

       F
And we lie

       C
On the floor

    F G
Get suspicious of the people

    F G C
Who just moved in next door

Chorus:

                     F
The bad taste in our mouths

                    C
The twinkle in your eye

                  F
Good things never last

G C intro thingie
Bad things never die

Verse:

Wind chime from Tahiti that we found down at the auction
Tolls its minor chord
And I can't think of one thing in this whole wide blessed world
That's more dangerous or frightening
Than you when you get bored

We go through
Scads of money
Don't know where it comes form
Don't know where it goes

And we stare
Out the window
See the poison flowers the neighbors grow
Sprouting up in nice neat rows

The swelling in our limbs
The twinkle in your eye
Good things never last
Bad things never die

So there ya go. Not a difficult song, but wow… so good.
